understanding what you need
Addiction treatment should not begin with fitting someone into a predetermined program. It should begin with understanding the person entering treatment.
At Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape, our continuum of care allows adults to receive different levels of support based on their substance use, medical and psychiatric needs, mental health, circumstances, progress, and recovery goals. Treatment recommendations are guided by clinical need rather than an arbitrary timeline.
Our programs include Medical Detoxification, Adult Residential Treatment, Day/Night Programming (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP). We also offer a dedicated Veterans & First Responders Track for patients whose experiences related to service may be important to understanding and supporting their recovery.
Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape is fully licensed and currently accepting adult patients in Port St. Joe, Florida.

Health insurance is tricky, and the added complexity of addiction and/or mental health treatment can make it even more perplexing. Our team can help, and walk you through the process to determine if your insurance can cover costs associated with treatment.
DETOX
A safe, supported beginning to treatment
For individuals who may experience withdrawal after stopping alcohol or certain drugs, detoxification can be an important first step in treatment.
Medical Detoxification at Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape provides 24-hour support focused on helping patients safely navigate withdrawal, achieve physical stabilization, and prepare for continued addiction treatment. Medical and nursing professionals monitor patients throughout the detoxification process and medications may be incorporated when clinically appropriate.
residential
Step away from everyday pressures and focus on recovery
Residential treatment provides a structured environment where patients can step away from everyday pressures and focus more fully on their health and recovery. Patients participate in individual and group therapy, medical and psychiatric care, recovery education, wellness activities, and skill development, with evidence-based approaches incorporated based on individual clinical needs.
Our low patient-to-therapist ratio allows clinicians to remain closely attuned to each patient’s progress, engagement, and changing needs throughout treatment. The goal extends beyond stopping substance use to understanding the patterns affecting recovery and developing the skills needed to move forward after treatment.
Day/Night PHP Program
Intensive Treatment With Increasing Independence
Day/Night Programming, commonly referred to as PHP, provides structured clinical treatment with greater independence than residential care. Patients continue participating in therapy and recovery programming while strengthening coping skills, recognizing triggers, establishing healthier routines, and applying what they learn with increasing autonomy.
PHP may serve as a transition from residential treatment or as an appropriate starting level of care based on individual clinical needs and circumstances. At Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape, recommendations are based on what each patient needs rather than a predetermined treatment sequence.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Continued Support as Recovery Moves Into Everyday Life
Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) provides ongoing therapeutic support with greater independence. Patients continue strengthening coping skills, managing emotions, recognizing triggers, improving relationships, and developing strategies that support continued recovery.
IOP may serve as a transition from a higher level of care or as an appropriate starting point based on individual clinical needs. Greater independence allows patients to apply recovery skills while navigating more of the responsibilities and situations they encounter in everyday life.
Veteran's & First Responders Track
Treatment That Understands the Culture of Service
The Veterans & First Responders Track provides specialized programming that recognizes how military service, law enforcement, fire service, EMS, corrections, and other service roles can influence recovery. Shared experiences can create opportunities for connection and understanding while treatment remains focused on each patient’s individual needs.
For some patients, trauma, PTSD, occupational stress, grief, or other mental health concerns may be important parts of treatment, while different factors may be more relevant for others. The goal is not to define someone by their profession or service history, but to understand the individual and provide care that reflects their experiences and needs.
A Continuum That Can Evolve With You
Level of Support
The level of support someone needs at the beginning of treatment may not be the same level they need several weeks later.
Some patients may begin with medically monitored detoxification before transitioning into residential treatment. Others may enter at a different level of care based on their clinical needs and circumstances. As patients progress, recommendations can change to reflect what the treatment team is observing and what the patient needs next.
This continuum allows treatment to respond to progress rather than expecting every patient to follow exactly the same path.
Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively throughout treatment to evaluate progress, identify emerging needs, and prepare patients for appropriate transitions in care.
Treatment for Co-Occurring Mental Health Concerns
Alcohol or drug use can occur alongside anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, grief, chronic stress, and other mental health concerns.
Understanding how these experiences interact can be important to developing an effective treatment plan. At Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape, medical, psychiatric, and clinical professionals work collaboratively to develop a more complete understanding of what each patient is experiencing.
Treatment may include psychiatric evaluation and care, individual and group therapy, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, medication management when clinically appropriate, and strategies for managing symptoms without returning to substance use.
Rather than treating substance use in isolation, our goal is to understand the broader factors that may influence a patient’s ability to engage in and sustain recovery.
Treatment Plans
Treatment is not based on reaching one certain day
A treatment plan should not remain static simply because it was created at the beginning of care.
As patients participate in treatment, clinicians gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, challenges, triggers, relationships, emotional health, and response to therapeutic interventions. Progress can also reveal needs that were less apparent when treatment began.
Our multidisciplinary team uses that information to continue evaluating the patient’s plan and determining what should happen next.
This is also why length of stay is individualized. Treatment is not based on reaching a predetermined number of days. Decisions about continued care and transitions between levels are informed by clinical needs, progress, individual circumstances, treatment goals, and readiness for the next stage of recovery.
your new beginning
Starts Today
Florida Treatment Centers at the Cape provides addiction treatment and mental health care, at varrying levels of care, to all of those in need, regardless of journey.
More Individual Attention Throughout Treatment
Meaningful therapeutic relationships require access to the people providing care.
Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape maintains a low patient-to-therapist ratio so clinicians can remain closely connected to the patients they are treating. Individualized care is not limited to what happens during a scheduled therapy session.
Throughout treatment, clinicians remain attentive to changes in mood, participation, relationships, treatment engagement, and other factors that can provide important information about a patient’s progress.
This ongoing clinical awareness allows the treatment team to respond as needs change rather than waiting until the next scheduled milestone.
Recovery Along Florida's Gulf Coast
Florida Treatment Centers at The Cape is located in Port St. Joe along Florida’s Gulf Coast, providing separation from many of the routines, environments, and pressures associated with everyday substance use.
The coastal setting is not the treatment. It creates space to engage more intentionally in the treatment itself.
Patients can participate in structured clinical care while also incorporating wellness, movement, mindfulness, outdoor experiences, and opportunities for reflection into the broader recovery experience.
Clinical excellence remains at the center of treatment. The environment supports that work by providing a setting where patients can temporarily step away from outside distractions and focus on what comes next.
Preparing for What Happens After Treatment
Recovery does not end when a patient completes a particular program or leaves The Cape.
Continuing care planning is incorporated into the treatment process so patients can begin preparing for the responsibilities, relationships, stressors, and environments they will encounter after structured care.
Recommendations are based on individual needs and may include continued behavioral health treatment, individual therapy, psychiatric care, recovery support, community resources, family support, or other appropriate services.
Patients also work to identify triggers, recognize warning signs, strengthen coping strategies, and develop plans for responding when recovery becomes difficult.
The goal is not simply to complete treatment. It is to leave with a clearer understanding of how to continue the work of recovery.
